Frequently Asked Questions
Q: [What's the minimum age to play?]
A: [Player MUST be 4 by August 1, 2011. This is one rule that we
cannot bend.]
Q: [My child wants to play with a friend,
can they?]
A: [Unfortunately no. The reason is, WCSA puts out teams together
by skills so that (hopefully) no one team is better than the rest or no
one team is losing every game. We have so many requests that there
is no way we'd be able to do this. We understand that sometimes
it'd be more convenient to car pool with a friend, but this is also a
great way to make new friends! The only time we put players
together is if they are siblings or it's the coaches and assistant
coaches child.]
Q: [How long is the season?]
A: [There are 7 or 8 weekends of games. Games are played on Saturdays.
There will be two or three weekends of practice before the season starts
(depending on weather). ]
Q: [What do I need to buy other than the
jersey?]
A: [Soccer cleats, shin guards, if the shin guards don't have the cloth
covering, socks to cover the shin guards, and a ball. U-6 & U-8
use size 3, U-10 & U-12 use size 4, U-15 & U-19 use size 5.]
Q: [Why do we have jerseys?]
A: [The jerseys that WCSA uses are reversable with one side blue and the
other side red. If you are a home team, you wear read, away wears
blue. WCSA went with the jerseys to help with teams sharing
players on game day. For example your team plays 8 at a time.
Team A shows up with 14 and Team B shows up with 8. Team A should
lend Team B a few players for two reasons...#1 Team B players could get
worn out playing the full game without breaks #2 Team B is going to have
6 kids sitting on the bench who could be playing.]
Q: [What are the divisions?]
A: [Keep in mind that U means under. We have: U-6 (4 & 5 year
olds), U-8 (6 & 7 year olds), U-10 (8 & 9 year olds), U-12 (10 & 11 year
olds), U-15 (12, 13 & 14 year olds), and in the spring U-19 (15-18 year
olds). We have all girl teams for U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, and
sometimes for U-15.]
Q: [OK, I registered, now what?]
A: [You will shortly be contacted by your coach to set up practices.
WCSA is 100% volunteer driven! The coaches will set up their own
practice nights, but WCSA will set the game schedule.
